RECORDS MANAGEMENT
Record Retention and Destruction Manual
AVAILABLE NOW!
This reference guideline has been developed and compiled with the objective of providing an overview relative to compliance activity in the consumer finance, banking, and financial services industries as it relates to records management with emphasis on record, document, and file retention and destruction. The manual can serve as a useful study tool for owners, manager, management trainees, administrative, and clerical personnel in a simple and easy to understand format.
Many state and federal statutes and implementing regulations mandate certain retention periods for various documents, records, and files. With the enactment of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the resulting Safeguards Rule, financial institutions were faced with enhanced compliance requirements to provide the required security for non-public personal information about their clients. With the enactment of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act and the resulting Final Rule regarding the disposal of consumer information, compliance requirements became even greater.
The manual consists of 101 pages of information materials and exhibits covering such topics as:
*Records Management Program
*Gramm-Leach-Biley Act and Safeguards Rule
*Personal Information Compromised – Safeguard Procedures
*
*
*Consumer Reporting Agency – FACTA – Data Retention Rules
*Equal Credit
*Truth In Lending Act – Regulation Z – Record Retention
*Internal Revenue Service – Document and Record Keeping Requirements
*
*Employment Records and Files – Record Retention
