2007 ACFA – Helen Brothers Memorial Scholarship Winners

| Alicia Brownell of Enterprise is one of our 2007 Alabama Consumer Finance Association – Helen Brothers Memorial Scholarship winners. Alicia is 17 years of age, graduated from Daleville High School in 2007 with a GPA of 4.5 (Valedictorian of the Class of 2007) and has been accepted to Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida with an intended course of study in International Business. It would take pages to list all of here extracurricular activities, but among them are: Varsity Track and Field Member, Beta Club Member, National Honor Society, Secretary of the Student Council, member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club, member of the Future Farmer’s of America, and others. Alicia has volunteered her time as a member of the church choir, has been a Sunday School Teacher, involved in Community Service through the Beta Club, and was elected Fort Rucker Volunteer of the Year among a ton of other community activities. | |

| Ashlee Rene’ Thompson of Rockford was recently awarded the Alabama Consumer Finance Association – Helen Brothers Memorial Scholarship for 2007. Ashlee is 17 years of age, and graduated this year from Edgewood Academy in Elmore, Alabama. She has been accepted to Auburn University where she plans to pursue a course of study in Veterinarian Medicine. Ever since she was a little girl, living on the farm, Ashlee has wanted to help sick animals and she understands the need to be calm in stressful situations, to be patient, and the special care that such animals need. Ashlee’s letters of recommendation were glowing about her skills and accomplishments. She has also been active in her community for the betterment of others, including work with the Hospice of Montgomery and Meals on Wheels. Her extracurricular activities include being a member of the Peruvian Passobilities Horse Drill Team and winner of the 2005 Peruvian Horse Association Junior High Point Exhibitor, and 1st Place Winner of the State Art Competition. | |
Tony Ellison, President of ACFA, in making the scholarship awards to Ashlee and Alicia stated: “These young ladies exemplify the dedication and contributions that our young people make to the communities in which they serve, and the focus that they have in achieving higher educational goals.”
